PINE GROVE POND

Spring has finally sprung!  The chickadees are flitting about, and the sun’s warmth has coaxed the tree buds and flowers to open themselves, so that we can enjoy their splendor.  With spring comes the laughter of children, smiles on our faces, and thoughts filled with hiking, biking, traveling, and just enjoying one another’s company in the warm glow of summer to come.  As I drove down the road the other day, I passed a well-know attraction in the Flathead Valley, that lies between Kalispell and Whitefish, not too far off Highway 93.  That little gem is Pine Grove Pond.

Pine Grove Pond is a public access, stocked fishing pond, with lots of easy-access shoreline, picnic tables both in the sun and in the shade, ample parking, clean vault toilets, and a couple of docks to get out there and dangle your line. As I drove into the lake’s park, I immediately noticed the shoreline dotted with anglers of every age, from long-retired to dad’s with several young kiddos in tow, wildly flailing their little rods and reels as they learned to cast.  A few couples were strolling hand-in-hand around the lake, and one family had a delicious picnic spread out among their blankets.  The adults were leaned back on their elbows enjoining the sights while the children were frolicking and cajoling with one another.  All in all, this place imparts joy and happiness, and suits people from all walks of life.

If you’re sequestered at home and need a place to socially distance yourself while still feeling like part of the community, wander out to Pine Grove Pond for an infusion of cheerful contentment!
